Why we built this
Across Africa, security is a real and daily concern. Banks are robbed. Schools face intrusion. Retailers lose millions to theft. Hospitals deal with aggression against staff. And yet the intelligent tools that exist to address these problems are either priced for Western enterprises or simply not built for African camera infrastructure, internet reliability, or deployment realities.
We started Observra because we saw that gap and knew it could be closed, not with a cloud-dependent SaaS platform that sends African footage to servers abroad, but with AI that runs entirely on-site, works offline, and is priced for the African market.
Our weapon detection model is trained on over 39,000 annotated images across five threat classes. It runs on commodity edge hardware. It detects in under 200 milliseconds. And it never sends video footage outside your building.
We are launching in 2026 with a focus on Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and South Africa, and expanding from there. If you're building security infrastructure across the continent, we want to talk.
